With the regular season nearing completion, Coach Gary Benedict is preparing his Spring Hill Bronco 12-under boys baseball team for post-season play.
So far, Benedict’s boys have carved out an impressive 8-2 record in the Tri-County competitive league and look forward to post-season competition. Spring Hill lost a one-run decision to Wellsville and by two to Baldwin. In between, the Broncos are perfect.
First comes the post-season league tourney (June 25-27) and then Spring Hill heads to the 12-u Div A USSSA tourney at Blue Valley, July 4.
“We finished second in a Blue Valley pre-season tourney and the kids are looking forward to a return trip,” Benedict added. “Right now we want to finish strong in league and tourney play.”
Benedict’s team is without a sponsor but has raised enough money for uniforms and league and tourney fees with a pre-season bake sale.
Dorothy Benedict spearheaded the bake sale which gave the team a solid financial start.
Assisting Benedict are David Hughes, Earl Towles, and John Shefcyk.
Their roster includes Gavin Benedict (cf), Ivan Hughes (p, c, ss), Colton Hamilton (ss, 2b, p), Jake Lovetinsky (of), Conner McIntosh (ss, 2b), Vann Putnam (3b), Adrian Martin (p, 1b), Seldon Shefcyk (cf, p), Alex Strahan (rf), and Braeden Towles (c, p, ss).
