The temperatures are climbing and so is the Gardner Heat 15-under girls softball squad in the Tri-County area standings.
Head coach Jim Hollenbeck has guided his group to a 2-2 record so far and looks forward to the rest of the league and tournament play.
“It’s been a lot of fun and the kids are showing improvement,” said
Hollenbeck, who enters his eighth year of coaching youth softball. “Rain has hampered our schedule but we look forward to playing a lot of games in the next few weeks.”
Hollenbeck’s team will hit the road for away games at Eudora, Baldwin and Wellsville and return home for action at Westside and Celebration Parks.
Hollenbeck has help in assistants Tim Hayes and current GEHS player Ashleigh Perry.
Their roster includes Kylie Bass, Abby Bell, Jamie Buck, Veronica Bueno, Maddie Butner, Sydney Clarke, Mackenzie Henneous, Sarah Hollenbeck, Jasmine (Rabbit) Pennington, Samantha Ragel, Kendra Rogers, Bethany Schultz, and Catlin Winkler.
Following completion of a 12-game league schedule, the team will play in a post-season tourney starting July 5.
