The Gardner Blazers 12AA team has been busy competing in a number of baseball tournaments. Through June 8, the team has already competed in seven tournaments.
Some of the successes include winning the Sports America Spring Fling Tournament hosted at Celebration Park in Gardner. The team was also in the lead in the semi-final game for the Blue Valley Early Bird Tournament before the Kansas storms took over and cancelled the remainder of the event.
More recently the Blazers competed in the Hawaiian Hitfest, which is reportedly the fifth largest tournament in the country. The 12-and-under team represented Gardner well, earning second place in the event.
The Blazers will compete in two more tournaments this season including the 12AA State Tournament, hosted at the Mid America Sports Complex. This team that has been together for five years is looking forward to having a couple more wins to finish off the season.
The team is coached by Jeff Stewart, James Cox, Steve Holtgraver and Ryan Gretencord.
Their roster includes Austin “Otis” Oldham, Colby “Buck” Holtgraver, Evan “Private” Wooten, Jacob Butash, Peyton Walker, Cooper “Coop” Cox, Joel “Professor” Baier, Brock “Bo” Stewart, Kolby “Fudd” Gretencord, and Dayvin “DJ” Johnson.
