Brett Wright scored 23 points and Josh Lang added 12 helping the Blazer varsity basketball squad to a 64-53 home win against Blue Valley Southwest, Dec. 20.
“Our kids played solid basketball throughout the night,” said coach Jeff Langrehr. “We were patient on offense, took good shots and stuck to our game plan defensively.”
Langrehr’s team connected on 19 of 44 from the field and sank 23 of 31 shots from the charity stripe.
Also in double figures was Will Cook who connected on four of six field goals and was a perfect 2-2 from the foul line.
Other scorers were Traevohn Wrench and Kyle Holtgren, six points, Jake Beckner, four points, Jacob Haywood, two points and Sean Callahan, one point.
“I wish we could turn around and build on this momentum right away, but we have two weeks off before we play again,” added Langrehr. “It’s nice to take a win into the break, but we realize we need to make significant improvement.”
Now 2-1, the Blazers wait until Jan. 3 to play at Blue Valley North High School.
