Williams grabs gold at GEHS wrestling Invitational

GEHS junior Dustin Williams won the 160 pound division championship at the 33rd Annual Blazer Invitational Dec. 1st. For his effort, Williams earned the KC Star Athlete of the Week honors.
Williams defeated Tim Miklus of South East Polk the number one ranked wrestler in Iowa, by a score of 6-4 in the championship match. He also defeated Nick Hollins of Skutt Nebraska Catholic, 10-3 in the semi-finals.
En route to the pool A title, Williams earned a 20-7 major decision against Bishop Carroll’s Luke Sponsel. He also pinned Olathe Northwest’s Gideon Butler-Smith and Iowa City’s Jackson Voight.
Besides Williams, third place awards went to Emilio Fowler (182), and freshman Jacob Bonham (106), fourth place.
