Playing its best volleyball of the season, the Lady Blazers brought back the Tonganoxie tournament title on Sept. 22 It was the Blazers third straight team title.
In the opener, Gardner Edgerton High Sschool turned back Bishop Ward by scores of 25-9, 25-6. After a 25-11, 25-12 win against Bonner Springs, the Blazers beat Great Bend, 25-12, 25-9 and Eudora, 25-8, 25-10. In the title game, GEHS beat Olathe East, 25-21, 21-25, and 25-12.
“We played our best volleyball of the season,”said cach Darrell Wait. We were consistent all day and played as a team.”
Cassie Wait led the way with 55 kills and 13 serve aces while Starling added 40 kills and had 3 aces. MacKenzie Skeens had 23 kills and Danie Plank had 20 kills. Hannah Bettge was the assist leader forhe tourney.
Named t o the All tounament team were Bettge, Starling, and Wait. Wait was named the Torney Most Valuable player for the second straight year.
