Vickie Gail Lea

Vickie Gail Lea, 59, of Olathe, passed away January 29, 2014 at Olathe Medical Center.

Vickie was born July 14, 1954 in Kansas City, Kan., to Paul and Oma “Midge” Louise (McKay) Lea. She grew up in Gardner where she graduated from Gardner High School in 1972. Vickie later moved to Hot Springs, Ark., for 10 years and then to Olathe in 1993.

She worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Gardner Hospital. Vickie later worked as the Bakery Manager at Price Chopper in Olathe and decorated cakes. She especially enjoyed decorating cupcakes and received great satisfaction in grooming dogs.

Vickie loved the Messianic Jewish religion. She will be missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Tisha Stevens.

Vickie is survived by her daughter, Megan Sweat, of Olathe, Kan.; siblings Linda Kay Forbes, of Harrington, Kan., Tony Forbes, of Olathe, Kan. and Mim Simpson, of Holt, Mo.; grandchildren Brittany, Johnathon and Landon; nieces and nephews Chris, Kimberly, Clint, Jessie, Jeremy, Ashli and Brett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Feb. 4, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Burial follows at Gardner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
