VanDeberghe, Dellinger sign basketball letters of intent

Shelbe VanDeberghe and Hayley Dellinger will continue to play basketball  in the Jayhawk East Junior College Conference next season, following stellar careers at GEHS.
They made it official  April 17 signing national letters of intent in front of family and friends in the school’s lecture hall.  Dellinger will attend Fort Scott Community College, while VanDeberghe is headed to Butler County.
Dellinger worked her way through the Blazer basketball program with participation on the freshmen and junior varsity squads. She earned a varsity- starting spot her senior year and played all 21 games. She shot 37 percent from behind the three point arc and connected on 72 percent from the free throw line.
VanDeberghe made an immediate impact with participation on the varsity-level all  four seasons. She showed a lot of versatility in four years playing the power forward, small forward and point guard positions. This season she earned Second team All Eastern Kansas League honors and was an honorable mention All- State selection. She averaged 11 points per game with 5.4  rebounds. She connected on 42 percent behind the three point arc and sank 77 percent of her free throws.
