USD 231 School board races heat up

School board races are shaping up with at least one candidate for each of the open seats on the USD 231 board of education. In the Spring Hill School District, there are currently two candidates for three seats that will be up for election on April 2.
In the Gardner Edgerton School District, Shelta Collins will run for Position 4, currently held by Mike McNulty. Rob Shippy, Gardner, has thrown his hat in the ring to run for Position 5, currently held by Randy Fruits; and Patty Fabing will run for Position 6, currently held by Ron Ragan.
In the Spring Hill School District, Eric Boyle, the incumbent, has filed for re-election for Position 4. Jason Winbolt has filed for Position 6 on the board.
The filing deadline for municipal and school board elections in Gardner, Edgerton and Spring Hill is noon on Jan. 22.

    In addition, Joel Riggs, 19070 Claire Road, Gardner, KS, has filed for Position 5 in Member District 2, representing southeastern Gardner and an eastern portion of Edgerton.
