USD 230 earns $10,000 for communications grant

The Spring Hill School District will receive a $10,000 grant and award for its communications efforts.
The American Association of School Administrators, the National School Public Relations Association and Blackboard Connect named USD 230 the recipient of the 2013 Leadership through Communication Award. The award is given to districts who demonstrate exemplary leadership in the enhancement of communications to families, staff and the community.
Spring Hill’s award application outlined the progress made from 2007, when a commitment was made by the superintendent and the Spring Hill Board of Education to enhance communications, until today’s purposeful use of communications strategies. The application along with other candidates’ applications went through several rounds of review by industry professionals before two finalists were named. As one of two finalists in the nation, a team of judges visited the district and conducted focus groups and interviews to determine the national winner.
In late February, Superintendent Bart Goering and Director of Communications Christine Splichal will accept the award on behalf of the district, including a $10,000 grant to be used for communications.
