University updates

Emporia University
Cheyenne Dains, Shelby Dains and Tara Thacker, all of Gardner, were honored during a First-Year Scholars reception on Feb. 6 at Emporia State University. The event honored first-year students who earned a 3.5 or higher grade point average in their first semester.

Lamar University
Morgan Buie, Gardner, made the Lamar University President’s List for the 2013 fall semester. Students qualify for the list by carrying a full course load of at least 12 hours in a semester and a grade point average of 4.0.
Lamar University is in Beaumont, Texas.

Linn State Technical
Nathan King, of Spring Hill, Kan. was named to the Dean’s List at Linn State Technical College.  To be placed on the Dean’s List, a full-time student must earn a semester grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a 4-point scale.

Rockhurst University
Ashleigh McDaniel, of Gardner, Kan. and Brandon Haverkamp, of Spring Hill, Kan. earned a place on the Rockhurst University dean’s list for the fall 2013 semester. This honor recognizes students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.

Truman State University
Truman State University has released the Fall 2013 President’s List. To qualify for this list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 4.0 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.
Area students include Jessica Marie Katzer, of Wellsville, Kan. Katzer majored in Exercise Science.

Wichita State University
Andrea L. Morgan and Ashley M. Parton, both of Gardner, and Elyse M. Bernhardt, of Spring Hill, received their degrees at Wichita State University during the fall 2013 semester.
Morgan, a nursing major, graduated with a BS in Nursing.  She also graduated Summa Cum Laude.  To graduate summa cum laude, undergraduate students must have attained a grade point average of 3.9 out of a possible 4.0.
Parton, a Performing Arts BFA major, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Bernhardt, a nursing major, graduated with a BS in Nursing.  She graduated with the Cum Laude award.  To graduate cum laude, undergraduate students must have attained a grade point average of 3.25 out of a possible 4.0

Wichita State University
Keely D McCoy, of Spring Hill, was named to the Wichita State University Dean’s Honor Roll for the fall 2013 semester.  To be included on the Dean’s Honor Roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

William Jewell College
Clare Elizabeth Tschirhart was named to the Dean’s List at William Jewell College for the 2013 fall semester. Tschirhart was a senior nursing major during the fall semester at the college located in Liberty, Mo.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average while carrying 14 or more semester hours.
