University updates

Avila University
Kara Koehler and Taylor Zimmerman, both of Gardner and Ashli Watson, of Wellsville were named to Avila University’s Dean’s List for the fall 2013 semester.  Candidates must possess a grade point average of at least 3.5.
Barton County Community College
Shelby Plank, Gardner, has been named to the Barton County Community College President’s List for the fall 2013 semester. To qualify for the honor, students had to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintain a grade-point average of 4.0 or an “A” on the letter scale.
Baylor University
Sarah Grace Russell, of Gardner, Kan. was named to the Dean’s List at Baylor University.  Russell attended the College of Arts and Sciences.  To be named to the Dean’s List a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
Fort Hays State University
Fort Hays State University deans have named students to the Deans Honor Roll for the fall 2013 semester.
To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester.
Amond those named to the Deans Honor Roll were Rebecca Gwynn Reddin, of Gardner, a senior majoring in elementary education; Sarah Alexis Ackerman, of Spring Hill, a junior majoring in elementary education; Mellany Leigh Mitchell, of Spring Hill, a Great Bend High School graduate, a senior majoring in education.
Grand View University
Recognition for outstanding academic achievement has been given to the following Grand View University students for the 2013 fall semester.
Kelsey Carbajo, Spring Hill, was named to the President’s List for earning a grade point average of 4.0 while carrying at least 12 hours of classes.
Macy Carbajo, Spring Hill, was named to the Dean’s List for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying at least 12 hours of classes.
Johnson County Community College
Jordan Lenore Whitaker, of De Soto, Kan. was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll list at Johnson County Community College for the fall 2013 semester.  To be named to the Dean’s List a student must be enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and have earned a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.99.
K-State University
K-State University students earning a grade point average for the fall 2013 semester of 3.75 or above on at least 12 credit hours receive semester honors along with commendations from their deans.
Students earning semester honors include:
Kaitlin Vaughan and Rashelle West, of Edgerton; Samantha Boyajian, Stephanie Brady, Haley Brooks, Lauren Brown, Kathlyn Daniels, Haley Frizzell, Gregory Hopper, Erica Johnson, Quincey Johnson, Cassie Kerr, McKenna Langrehr, America Martinez-Serrano, Molly Porter, Shelby Rushing, Kyle Tomlinson, and Rowan Turner, of Gardner; and Hayley Chauvin, Andrew Ewing, Emily Barnhill, Michaela Gustafson, Dorothy Menefee, Joshua Smith, and Lily Young, of Spring Hill.
Ottawa University 
Lauren B. Buckles, of Gardner and Abby S. New, of Wellsville,  were named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the fall 2013 semester at Ottawa University.   To qualify for the Dean’s Honor Roll, students must be degree-seeking, have earned a minimum of 12 semester hours during the preceding semester, and earned a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Rockhurst University
Ashleigh McDaniel, of Gardner, Kan. and Brandon Haverkamp, of Spring Hill, Kan. earned a place on the Rockhurst University Dean’s List for the fall 2013 semester. This honor recognizes students who have achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.
Truman State University
Truman State University has released the Fall 2013 President’s List. To qualify for this list, an undergraduate student must attain a semester 4.0 grade point average and must complete 12 semester hours of credit.
Area students include Jessica Marie Katzer, of Wellsville, Kan. Katzer majored in Exercise Science.
Wichita State University
Andrea L. Morgan and Ashley M. Parton, both of Gardner, and Elyse M. Bernhardt, of Spring Hill, received their degrees at Wichita State University during the fall 2013 semester.
Morgan, a nursing major, graduated with a BS in Nursing.  She also graduated Summa Cum Laude.  To graduate summa cum laude, undergraduate students must have attained a grade point average of 3.9 out of a possible 4.0.
Parton, a Performing Arts BFA major, graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Bernhardt, a nursing major, graduated with a BS in Nursing.  She graduated with the Cum Laude award.  To graduate cum laude, undergraduate students must have attained a grade point average of 3.25 out of a possible 4.0
Wichita State University
Keely D McCoy, of Spring Hill, was named to the Wichita State University Dean’s Honor Roll for the fall 2013 semester.  To be included on the Dean’s Honor Roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
William Jewell College
Clare Elizabeth Tschirhart was named to the Dean’s List at William Jewell College for the 2013 fall semester. Tschirhart was a senior nursing major during the fall semester at the college located in Liberty, Mo.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average while carrying 14 or more semester hours.
