University update

Ottawa University
Ottawa, Kansas – Ottawa University is pleased to announce those students named to the Fall 2012 Dean’s List.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must be degree-seeking; have earned a minimum of 24 hours over the preceding two semesters at Ottawa University; and earned a semester grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
To qualify for the Dean’s Honor Roll, students must be degree-seeking; have earned a minimum of 12 semester hours during the preceding semester; and earned a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Among those named were Megan L. Gillespie, of Edgerton, who was named to the Dean’s List;   John J. Bass and Lauren B. Buckles, both of Gardner, were named to the Dean’s Honor Roll; Lynae G. DeGravel, of Spring Hill, Kan. was named to Dean’s List; Maximo S. Penichet III, also of Spring Hill, Kan. was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll; Abby S. New and Jennalyn N. Phillips, both of Wellsville, Kan. were named to the Dean’s List.

Kansas State University
More than 1,300 students have completed degree requirements from Kansas State University.
The graduates are from 91 Kansas counties, 42 states and 26 countries. Of the university’s newest graduates, 117 also earned graduation honors for their outstanding academic work.
Degrees earned include more than 1,050 bachelor’s, nearly 260 master’s, more than 55 doctorates and several associate degrees. Some students earned multiple degrees.
Earning the university’s top graduation honor, summa cum laude, were 32 students, who have an academic average of 3.95 or higher; 41 students graduated magna cum laude with an academic average of 3.85 to 3.949; and 46 students graduated cum laude with an academic average of 3.750 to 3.848.

From Spring Hill: Rita Anderson, Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction; Christopher Cook, Bachelor of Science; Christopher Rhodes, Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
