the farm, the orphanage sent them a red-headed girl instead. The quirky, imaginative girl warms their hearts and they decide to keep her. Avid readers and playgoers know the story of that orphan as Anne, of Green Gables.

It’s a tale The Tallgrass Theatre Company will bring to life this weekend in Gardner.

Featuring local families, the show opens at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8 at Pioneer Ridge Middle School. The show runs for three days – all weekend long. The second production will start at 7 p.m. on June 9 at PRMS, and a final production will be at 2 p.m. on June 10 at PRMS.

The show is the final for the group’s first season,  but organizers are already preparing for a second season. The theatre company has plans to stage  “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” in October.

Tickets for this weekend’s production are $8 at the door, and the theatre company will also collect non-perishable food items to donate to the Gardner Multi-Service Center.
