Joseph’s coat was elegant, the cut was fine. Its tasteful style was the ultimate in good design.
Unfortunately, the technicolor dreamcoat, a gift from Joseph’s father Jacob, created intense jealousy within the family. Joseph’s 11 brothers wanted revenge.
So begins the musical re-telling of the Biblical story of Joseph. The old tale, it was first told in the book of Genesis, will be retold in Gardner this weekend.
Gardner Community Theatre will present the modern-twist on stage during its summer production of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
The show, which features almost zero dialogue, includes a local children’s choir with nearly 50 voices. The cast includes more than 35 men, women and Gardner children.
All performances will be held at Gardner Edgerton High School auditorium for a four-day run.
The curtain will raised on June 27; a second performance will be at 7 p.m. on June 28. There will be four shows on Saturday and Sunday. On June 29, the show will be at 2 p.m. and then at 7 p.m. The final two shows will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 30.
Tickets will be available at the door.

Braden Enfield, Will Biggs, Dan Naden, and Cooper McGuire and Michael Fibelkorn perform a number from the production, which opens this Thursday and runs through the weekend.
