The Gardner Community Garden Chili Cook Off

November 13, 2013 РThe Gardner Community Garden held a Chili Cook Off and Pot Luck dinner at the Grange Building on the Fairgrounds to help kick off the 2014 season. The community gardeners also show their culinary skills by producing a variety of tasty chili’s. The judges were Gardner Chief of Police and Mrs. Gerry Cullumber and Jeff Stuart of Gardner Parks & Rec.
The judges sampled each pot of chili and selected the winners. 1st place chili went to Quentin Olson. Most Spicy chili was James Janzen and Most Original was awarded to Al Rolf. Alisha Harding won for Best Covered Dish and Jenny Cleary won for Best Desert.
Tom King reviewed the accomplishments of the first growing season of Gardner Community Garden and the prospects for the 2014 season. This was the first opportunity for residents to sign up for and reserve 2014 garden plots. The cost for a 25 x 15 foot plot is $40 for the entire growing season and plots are still available.
