A first round state 4A 20-14 loss to Piper, Nov. 13 brought the season to a close for Coach Anthony Orrick and his Bronco football team.
Spring Hill, 5-6, led 7-6 at halftime but fell behind 20-7 in the second half. The Broncos pulled within 20-14 with four minutes left scoring a touchdown on a fake field goal try. However, a last ditch pass by Spring Hill was intercepted with 1:50 remaining and Piper held on for victory.
“I’m very proud of our team and coaches”, said Coach Orrick. “They kept battling and made it a game at the end.”
Despite the loss, Spring Hill posted an impressive 3-0 District title record and also captured a B District title.
Next season looks just as promising as nine seniors return.
The group includes Tyus Heinrich (RB), Charles Elam (WR), Cristian Esparza (OL), John Michael-Weishaar(OL), Austin Grate(LB), Zack Mayhan(LB), Michael Londene(CB), Austin Storck(SS), and Brad Smith(FS).
