Spring Hill High School prepares for Regional Student Council Conference

Nearly 450 delegates from around the region have marked their calendars for a regional student council conference that will be hosted by the Spring Hill High School (SHHS) Student Council (StuCo).  The Sept. 18 event features a theme of “Treasure Hunt to Leadership.”
The participants will spend the day hearing speakers, exchanging ideas, and sharing successes and challenges within their student council programs. Held annually in the fall, this is the second consecutive year that the SHHS StuCo has hosted the event, which is one of only seven StuCo conferences held in the Kansas.
“As an organization, we are honored to organize the event and welcome participants to our high school,” said Katie George, SHHS StuCo sponsor. “The conference provides an excellent forum for the students and sponsors to share ideas and find inspiration.”
The keynote speaker for this year is Patrick Maurer. He is a speaker, educator and author who will focus on the student pursuit for his/her own personal best in school and in life. Combining his experiences as an English teacher with his improvisational performance background, Maurer is presenting to student council conferences around the country.
