Speed limit on Main Street to be reduced

Drivers, lower your speed on Main Street on the south side of town.
The Kansas Department of Transportation is lowering the speed limit on Main Street between Center Street and Poplar Street from 40 miles per hour to 35 miles per hour.
Main Street doubles as U.S. 56 Highway.
State highway officials are lowering the speed based on findings from a KDOT traffic study. Engineering staff conducted the study following a request from city of Gardner officials.
KDOT crews should have the existing speed limit signs replaced to indicate a slower speed limit by Friday, Aug. 17.
