Some offices, schools announce closings ahead of snow storm

School will not be in session on Feb. 4. Officials announced school would close ahead of a winter storm headed this way on Feb. 3. Statewide offices in Shawnee County and executive branch offices in other affected counties are shuttered, but Kansas House leadership has canceled legislative business on Feb. 4. County government offices,  as well as the Johnson County Libraries, will also be closed. Johnson County District Court and at least one Johnson County park, Kill Creek Park, will shutter. Parking lots at some access points for the Johnson County Streamway Park will also be closed.

According to the National Weather Service, the Kansas City metro area will see up to 10-inches of snow Feb. 4. Forecaster predict snow will begin to fall around 6 a.m. with heavier bands of snow walloping the area sometime after 10 a.m. Snow is expected to fall until 6 p.m.
