A first round, 4-0 regional 6A loss to Shawnee Mission East High School brought the season to a close for Coach Andy Weber and his Gardner Edgerton High School Blazer varsity soccer squad.
GEHS trailed 1-0 at halftime. The squad had several scoring chances in the second half, but could not convert. Shawnee Mission East eventually took control and posted the 4-0 win.
The season-ending loss failed to overshadow several record setting performances.
Dakota Steuber now owns the record for single season goals with 11. He also holds records for career varsity goals with 29, and single season points of 43, and career points earned, 66.
He graduates as the most productive offensive player in Blazer history.

Weber guided GEHS to an 8-9 record. The team allowed just 34 goals all season led by freshman goalie Tavika Ploetz.
