Spring Hill officials will be talking to community stakeholders in the next few weeks as they prepare to draw new boundary lines as Wolf Creek Elementary will be open next year.
“It’s something that has to be done,” Christine Splichal, school district director of communication, said. “And we would rather do it sooner than later.”
Wolf Creek, which is being built as part of a 2011 bond issue, will open in the fall of 2013. It will serve Kindergarten through fifth graders. As it comes online, Spring Hill Elementary will also revert to a pre-school through fifth grade school, and Spring Hill Elementary School will be repurposed as a sixth grade center.
To date, there are three proposals school officials are considering, but Splichal said that could change. The district has scheduled two public meetings in addition to an initial Aug. 13 meeting on the topic, and meetings with teachers are in the works as well.
Patrons are invited to attend a boundary meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 in the Spring Hill Elementary School cafeteria. A second meeting will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the Prairie Creek Elementary School cafeteria.
