Sheriff’s office investigates Olathe officer-involved shooting

County authorities are investing the shooting death in Olathe of 46-year-old Matthew White this morning. A Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputy is on leave of absence pending the outcome of the investigation.
Deputies noticed a vehicle facing the wrong way on Buchanan Street in Olathe at about 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13.
When a deputy stopped to investigate, a person fled on foot.
A second deputy came across the male suspect later in the 200 block of Keeler Street. During the encounter, the officer fired his weapon striking the suspect.
White was pronounced dead at the scene.
