SH sports swings into action with tennis

A JV tennis match versus St. James Academy officially kicks off the spring sports season March 19 for Spring Hill High School.
Coach Darrin May returns and has been busy preparing his squad for the dual meet. The JV team also has a dual versus Baldwin, March 22.
On the soccer field, Coach Susan Putnam has witnessed an excellent attitude in pre-season practices and has the squad ready for a March 20 match versus Blue Valley North. The team takes on De Soto, March 22.
For baseball, veteran coach Dave Londene returns and will send his C squad versus De Soto Mar. 20 at 4:30 p.m. Another C team game takes place March 27 versus Topeka Hayden and then the varsity takes to the field March 29 versus rival Ottawa.
The Lady Bronco softball squad plays at 4 p.m. on March 27 at St. James Academy and on March 29 in Ottawa. Coach Shelly Huber and assistants Sarah Hays and Dustin Barnes are looking for marked improvement.
Finally, the Spring Hill golf squad, under the direction of veteran coach Rick O’Neil, will wait until April 2 to play the Gardner Invitational.
Top returnees include seniors Tyler Hartsock, Sam Huffman, Cory Hall, Hunter Stuart, and Ron Ainsworth; and juniors Jerred DeGrande and Travis Grimes.
