Spring Hill jumped to a 14-7 third quarter lead and held on to upset St. James 14-13 in the District 4A opener for both squads, Oct. 17.
After a scoreless first quarter, Spring Hill went to work. Lincoln Smith scored from five yards out and Brad Bink added the successful after point to put Spring Hill up 7-0 at halftime.
Spring Hill went up 14-7 in the third quarter thanks to a Tyus Heinrich 13 yard touchdown run. Bink again added the extra point kick.
St. James added a fourth quarter touchdown on a pass play from Trey Keith to Jake Bade.
Spring Hill outrushed James 192-140 led by Heinrich’s 69 yard effort. Trevor Clack added 54 yards on the ground and Trevian Bryant, 46.
