Scoring 18 second half points, the PRMS seventh grade varsity football squad posted a 24-6 win at home versus Paola, Sept. 27.
After a scoreless first quarter, PRMS went up 6-0 just before halftime thanks to a touch down pass from quarterback Kolbee Finell to Zach Bass.
Paola Countered with an early third quarter score only to see the Jags rally.
Runningbacks Jonas Pippitt, Jared Highfill, and Conner Boyt combined for 160 yards in the second half and a TD apiece.
Their success was due in part to the up front blocking of Sam Stranathan, Garrett Glover, Sam West, Randy Fruit, Marshall Carpenter, and Bass.
“It was nice to see the boys running hard and keeping their feet moving forward,” said coach Davidson. “They refused to let one guy bring them down”
Pippit led the rushing with 68 yards. Boyt added 47; Highfill, 45; and Nick Salpus, 21.
Meanwhile, the defense was spearheaded by Boyt and Pippit with six tackles. Bass recorded four. Highfill, Ricky Graham and Salpus each had three.
Now 4-1, PRMS travels to Eudora to take on the Cardinals. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
