Rush hour accident slows traffic on I-35

Traffic is moving slowly on Interstate 35 near Gardner this morning as State troopers investigate a rollover accident. Troopers are allowing traffic through on the right-side shoulders on northbound and southbound I-35 near the 175th Street Gardner exit.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., the officers responded to a single car accident. The driver of a Ford Focus drove over uneven lanes in the construction zone near the exit. That pulled the vehicle back into the center median. The car went airborne and came down between the north and southbound lanes of I-35. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver sustained major injuries. The Kansas Highway Patrol has not yet released the name of the driver. There were no passengers.
