Robert Warner “Bob” Stinson

 

Robert Warner “Bob” Stinson, 83, of Olathe, Kan., passed away Sept. 15, 2012 at his home.

Bob was born Sept. 6, 1929 in Emporia, Kan., the son of Dale Bernard and Anna (Bowersox) Stinson.

Bob was a graduate of Emporia High School, Emporia State University, Pittsburg State University and the University of Kansas.  Bob married Patricia Gordon on Sept. 14, 1951 in Olathe, Kan.  He served in the Army National Guard, the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Air Force Reserves, retiring with 30 years of service.  He retired from the Olathe Unified School District as the Director of the Johnson County Area Vocational Technical School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Wayman, brothers Ner Andrew “Buzz” Stinson and Dale Bernard Stinson, Jr.   Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia, of the home; sons Mark Stinson (Donna) of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Craig Stinson (Kathy) of Lenexa, Kan.; four granddaughters, Claar, Calie, Anna and Kelse; brother John Stinson (Beverly) of Wichita, Kan. and sister Judy Pierce of Warrensburg, Mo.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Sept. 18, 2012 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS(913)856-7111.  Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. before the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be 2:30 p.m., Sept. 18, 2012 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kan.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Robert Stinson Scholarship Fund.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.
