Robert Lee “Bob” Wright

 

Robert Lee “Bob” Wright, 88, passed away March 29, 2013 at OlatheMedicalCenter. 

Bob was born April 3, 1924 in Paola, Kan. to Joseph David and Ethel Florence (Smith) Wright. They moved to Olathe where he was a graduate of OlatheHigh School. 

Bob served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy as a medic.  Bob married Alice “Maxine” McDaniel in Ottawa, Kan. 

He was a lineman for KCP&L for over 40 years. 

Bob was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Olathe, and the IBEW. 

He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and golfing and was a professional bowler.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maxine in 2011, and his brother Joseph David Wright, Jr. 

Bob is survived by his children Sandra L. Payne and husband Jay, and William R. Wright and wife Julie, all of Olathe; stepsons Roger Oxley of Paola, Glenn Oxley of Olathe, and Marlon Oxley of S.D.; stepdaughters Cheryl Vogel of Paola and Beverly Smith of Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., April 3, 2013 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111.  Burial with Military Honors at AntiochCemetery, in Spring Hill, Kan.  Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 2, 2013 also at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.
