A record 50 entries competed in the 2nd Annual Street Vault Aug. 13 in the north parking lot of Gardner Elementary.
Vaulters came from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma to compete in the nearly seven-hour event. The top pole vault clearance of 16’6″ came from Gardner-Edgerton High School grad Casey Bowen.
“We had a lot of people stop by and watch the vault,” said Kim Loring of the Gardner Track Club. The 50 vaulters is at least an increase of 50 percent participation from last year.”
Loring extended a special thanks to all the kids, parents and coaches assisting with the street vault.
“It takes a lot of people to put on an event like this,” added Loring.
