Record setting day for Pioneer boys team

It was a record setting day for Coach Gordon Thiesfeld and his Pioneer boys track teams at the season opener in Eudora, April 4.
On the seventh grade level, Devlin Specht sailed 16′-1″ to set a new long jump standard. Later Specht teamed with Luke Laskowski, Rees Taylor and Wyatt Hollingshead toe set a new 400 relay record of 53.2.
On the eighth grade level, Marshall Carpenter tossed the discus 113’8″ to set a school record and Matt Summerlein set a new 200 meter mark at 25.6.
The 800 relay of Kolbee Finnell, Jared Highfill,Zach Mitchell and Jonas Pippitt took first place and the 1600 realy team of Jesse May, Joe Corbin, Highfill and Farris finished first. Justin Lucero cleared 9′-0′ in the pole vault for first place and Pippitt placed first in the 800 meters.
For the seventh grade, gold medals went to Leon Gaeta in the high jump and Wyatt Hollingshead in the 100 hurdles. Taylor took first in the 100 meter dash and Carson Hughes was first in the 800 meters. The 1600 relays also raced to gold.
