It was a record setting day for the Gardner Edgerton High School lady Blazer golf team in final round action of the Eastern Kansas League tournament at Swope Park last week.
As a team, the Blazers posted a new school record of 360, shaving seven strokes off the previous best set just two weeks ago.
The team consisted of Mia Tovkach, Hope Bruno, Hannah Trivitt and Taylor Hill.
The day’s top individual effort belonged to Tovkach who took first place with a career best score of 71.
“Mia is our first Eastern Kansas League Champion and claimed the title as a freshman,” GEHS Coach Amy Van Rheen said.
Senior Hope Bruno shot a personal best score of 91, Trivitt shot a 95, and Hill shot a personal best of 103.
All told, GEHS brought home a fifth place team finish. Fewer than 10 strokes separated third, fourth and fifth place team finishes.
The lady Blazers competed in the regional tournament on Oct. 12. The tournament was in Wichita at the L.W. Clapp Course.
The Regional team consisted of Tovkach, Trivitt, Bruno, Hill, Taylor Snell, and Shae Stamps.
