I’m Proud to be a Kansan because of our states achievements agriculturally. Kansas grows many different kinds of crops like wheat and sunflowers. Kansas is a low crime rate state, probably because of the population. Kansas provides a good educational program that are sought throughout most of eastern Kansas. Further west, they are more influenced by an agricultural standpoint. Kansas’ weather patterns are odd. In the summer Kansas is known to be part of tornado alley, not because there are tornados most of the spring and summer but because if a storm system were to move its way toward Kansas in the spring or summer there would be a better chance of a tornado. It’s also the winter that turns the state odd. In some winters Kansas experiences grueling winters. This happens because cold enough air  coming down from the north and warm gulf moisture coming from the south, once the jet stream lines up over the Midwest we experience horrible winter storms.
I’m proud to be a Kansan because of people who were born there. Dwight Eisenhower was born in Abilene, Kansas. He was the 34th president of the United States.
Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, Kansas. She was the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Now I hope you see why I’m proud to be a Kansan.
