Michelle Toon, principal of Spring Hill Elementary, made a challenge to her students to read 1 million minutes over the course of the 2011-2012 school year.  If the goal was met, students would have the chance to dunk her in a water tank and participate in other fun activities.  The students and staff of Spring Hill Elementary not only met the challenge, they surpassed it. They logged 1,176,000 minutes, which got the party started. The festivities were based on the theme for this school year, “Learning is a Treasure.”  On May 16, Toon donned a full wet suit and took her place in the shark dunk tank. Then students took turns heaving a softball at the trigger. Teachers also had the opportunity to dunk the principal, and made sure that they got the job done even if their approach was untraditional. As part of the celebration, students “fished” in a pond to be awarded door prizes.
