Press Release – Gardner Police Deptartment

The Gardner Police Department will be participating in a special traffic enforcement program sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation over the Thanksgiving Holiday. A grant from KDOT will underwrite overtime traffic enforcement especially targeted at impaired drivers, with a secondary focus on seatbelt usage.
Those persons Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or other drugs endanger not only themselves, but also their passengers, other motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. Those persons who do not “Buckle Up” are approximately 12 times more likely to be killed and almost twice as likely to suffer injury as those who are properly restrained.
The Thanksgiving campaign will run from November 19th through November 25th. Gardner Police Department will have extra enforcement during this time period and will be concentrating on persons Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs and Safety Restraints.
