Prairie Star 4-H

The Prairie Star monthly meeting was held on May 12, at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.  The meeting was called to order by President Anthony Deters.
Pledges were led by Tucker Davis. The song Bingo was led by Chari McGill and Elly VanRheen.
Roll call was “what is your favorite thing to do during the summer” with 14 members present.  Cole Davis told a joke.
We had one new guest, Bailey Towner.
Jesse Molenda gave the treasurer’s report with a balance of $1109.25.  Sienna Muellner gave the reporter’s report and Tucker Davis asked for items for the historian book.
Jeanette Davis gave the community leader report reminding members about fair entry deadlines.  She also mentioned the entomology pinning class coming up in June and the speech workshop in May.  She reminded the club members to participate in judging school at our next meeting.
Matt Russell asked for more volunteers to sign up to help in the community garden and took suggestions for what will be planted in the rest of the 4-H garden.
The club voted on a club tour to Shatto Dairy Farm instead of a tour of Hallmark.
Project talks were given by Elly VanRheen on the Food Fair and by Brady Russell on Archery.
The club’s next meeting will be June 9.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Tucker Davis and seconded by Charli McGill.
