The monthly meeting of the Prairie Star 4-H club was held on July 8, 2013, at the Johnson County Fair Grounds. Recreation before the meeting was led by Shay Stamps Lauren Molenda. The meeting was called to order by President Dewey Molenda. Pledges were led by Madi Russell and Baillis Gagnon. Jesse Molenda gave the Joke/Inspiration of the month. Roll Call was, “What is your favorite activity for the 4th of July?” There were 16 members present. There were no guests.
The minutes from the June meeting were read, corrected, and stand approved as read. Anthony Deters, club treasure reported the club’s balance. Tucker Davis reported that he had turned in the minutes to The Gardner News for the last meeting. Jesse Molenda asked for people to turn in pictures of any club events for the Historian’s book.
The Community Leader report included details about the county wide photography meeting, foods meeting, and fair clean up. There was also information regarding fair preparation concerning registration, check in, and judging. The club was also informed of the Harvester’s Food Distribution at Nazarene church on August 5th, and any help would be appreciated.
Melissa Russel talked about the community garden for the project leader report. The committee report consisted of fair concession and banner sign up for those interested.
The program for the night was a project talk by Cole Davis.
The meeting was adjourned by a motion from Jesse Molenda and seconded by Hunter Burk.
The next meeting will be a walking tour of fair projects.
