The Gardner Police Department will partner with Gardner Gold to conduct a “Mini” Law Enforcement Torch Run at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 31. The First Annual Gardner Community Torch Run will begin promptly at 8 a.m. with one of our very own Gardner Gold Olympians reciting the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the run beginning. Officers and participants will be departing from the intersection of Main and Moonlight and will proceed westbound to Main and Center.
Spectators are welcome to come out and cheer on our officers and “Special Olympians” as they carry the torch sponsoring Special Olympics. Following the run, a small ceremony will occur at Cornerstone Park, 136 E. Washington. Gardner Gold will also be on-hand conducting a fundraiser by selling water to help raise money for their community organization.
The Gardner Police Department will be selling 2014 Law Enforcement Torch Run t-shirts for $20 per shirt. If you would like to purchase a shirt or to make a donation please contact either Officer Erica Drinkard at firstname.lastname@example.org or Officer Ilena Spalding at email@example.com. Purchases can be made at the Gardner Police Department or at the Torch Run. Cash or Checks are acceptable forms of payment.
Gardner Police Department is hoping to “line the highway” from Main and Moonlight to Main and Center for this very “special” event.
