Plank leads Lady Blazers to second place

Danie Plank scored gold medals in three events leading the Lady Blazers to a second place finish at the Olathe East Invitational, April 4.
Plank scored 30 points with first place efforts in the shot put (37’-1’), discus, (113’-4’) and javelin (149’). She led the way for a solid senior class performance.
“Our senior class really stepped up and provided leadership,” said Coach Larry Ward.  Danie led the way with another dominating performance.”
Besides Plank, Cassie Wait cleared 12’-6” to claim gold. Natalie Mitchell cleared 10’ for third place. Kyra Burcham tossed the discus 111’ 8” for second place and Jessica Cisneros threw the javelin 123’-3” for second place points.
Taylor Claybon had another big day placing second at 300 hurdles in 50.30 and 4th in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 17.26. She teamed with McKenzie Scroggin, Miranda Tenove, and Abby Clabaugh to finish third in the 1600 relay in a time of 4:21.5.
Scroggin also teamed with Tenove, Katie Groshong and Aly Daniels to finish third in the 3200 relay in a time of 11:02. She added 7th place points in the 800 meter race.
Next action comes April 12 at the Shawnee Mission South Mid season Invitational. Field events begin at 3:30.
