Phyllis Leona Hermon

Hermon 70, of Gardner, Kan., passed away Feb. 7, 2014.

Phyllis was born Aug. 6, 1943 in Kansas City, Kan. to Harold and Clara (Miller) Bartlett. She grew up in Kansas City, Kan. and graduated from Wyandotte High School, but she lived most of her life in Johnson County; including Prairie Village before moving to Gardner.

Most of her working life was spent in banking, but her last employment was as a records clerk with the Johnson County Kansas Sheriff’s Department.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Gregory Hermon in 1970.

Phyllis was always a loving and caring wife and she will be greatly missed by her husband, as well as family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gregory, of the home; sister Etta Farney and husband Ben, of Overland Park, Kan.; brother Ron Roark, of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Feb. 14, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner (913)856-7111. Burial will follow at the Gardner Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 13, 2014, also at the funeral home.

Phyllis was known for her love of animals and her shelter adoptions. She requested donations to Animal Haven or Wayside Waifs in lieu of flowers as her final gesture to aid them. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.
