Peggy Jo “Mow” Eastland

 

Peggy Jo “Mow” Eastland, 82, ofGardner,Kan., passed away Oct. 23, 2012 atOlatheMedicalCenter.

Peggy was born Oct. 16, 1930 in Moran,Kan.to John Franklin and Adah Leona (Hibbs) Brown.

She grew up in the Moran area, moved toCaliforniafrom 1935-1942 and then moved to the Blue Mound area. Peggy graduated fromBlueMoundHigh Schoolin 1949 where she later worked at Keys Overalls inFt.Scott,Kan.

She married Donald Dale Eastland on Dec. 19, 1951 inFt.Scottand they moved toGardnerin 1968. Peggy worked in the Sewing Department for 20 years at Cramer Products inGardner.

She was a 40 year member of the Gardner American Legion Auxiliary, liked to play Bingo and cards, especially Texas Hold’em. Peggy was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making quilts and gifts for her family and friends. She loved her dog Millie and all animals. Peggy will be dearly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Dale, of the home; children: Kay and husband Charlie Sneed, of Lawrence, Kan., Nancy and Walt Bickley, of Gardner, Brenda Davis and Eric Haney, of Edgerton, Kan.; sisters: Darlene McCoy, of Mound City, Wanda Smith, of Bronson, Kan. and Ruth Ann Kelley, of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; 10 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Oct. 27, 2012 at Bruce Funeral Home,106 S Center, Gardner, KS (913)856-7111. Burial follows at GardnerCemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Oct. 26, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gardner American Legion Auxiliary or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com.
