Dana G. Patton, 25, of Olathe, has been sentenced to 224 months in custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections.
Patton was out on bond on numerous other cases and had been reported as being AWOL from the Johnson County Corrections Residential Center on October 16, 2015, when he struck a vehicle driven by David Mark Stubbs at 123rd and Metcalf in Overland Park. Stubbs died as a result of the injuries he received in the collision.
This nearly 19 year sentence resolves Patton’s five recent cases in Johnson County District Court: 15CR1999, 15CR2055, 15CR26335, 15CR2878, and case number 16CR175. The referenced cases involve murder in the second degree, aggravated battery, failure to stop and aggravated burglary, among others, according to the county public records website.
The Overland Park Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Criminalistics Laboratory were the investigating agencies.
