A man was in serious condition Dec. 29 after the vehicle he was driving rear-ended a tractor-trailer at U.S. 56 Highway and Cedar Niles Road in Gardner.
The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Ilena Spalding, public information officer for the Gardner Police Department.
Spalding said the driver of the car apparently rear-ended the semi and the car  became partially lodged beneath the semi’s trailer.
The accident happened about 8 a.m. in the westbound lanes of U.S. 56 at the Cedar Niles stop light.
