The city of Gardner welcomed a new city clerk, Jeanne Koontz, recently.  Mayor Chris Morrow administered the Oath of Office to Koontz at the Aug. 4 city council meeting.  Koontz comes to the city of Gardner with eight years of local government experience.  She previously served as the Deputy City Clerk/Public Information Officer for Prairie Village, where she worked with the city council and various committees. She holds a master of public administration degree from the University of Kansas and is a certified municipal clerk.  Koontz resides in Kansas City, Kan., with her husband and two sons.
The city clerk’s office is the official custodian of city records including the municipal code, ordinances, resolutions, agendas, and minutes.  Requests for open records can be submitted directly to the city clerk or via the city’s website.  The city clerk’s office facilitates the appointments to boards and commissions and filing for city council. The city clerk’s office also processes business licenses for drinking establishments, retail liquor establishments and cereal malt beverages.
