Numbers speak well for Blazer softball team

The Blazer softball team will have numbers on its side when the season begins at home against St. Thomas Aquinas on April 2.
Coach Joanne Calvin welcomed 33 girls to practice two weeks ago and has witnessed an excellent attitude in preseason drills.
“We have a great atmosphere on our team this year,” said Calvin. “We’ve been able to get outside to practice and that has been helpful. We will be a young team, but that is exciting for the future.”
Top returners include seniors Haley McGuire, Tara McIntyre, Juniors Kiana Baderdeen and Casey McCoun and sophomores Sydney Anderson and Kara Pine.
The Blazers have 33 on the roster and will field a varsity, JV and C team.
Assisting varsity coach Calvin will be Megan Black. John Bass is the JV coach and Erika Cowhick is the C team coach.
