No one injured in Gardner house fire

Danedri Thompson
Fire crews responded to a fire in Conestoga Mobile Park in Gardner early Sunday morning.
No one was home when the living room caught on fire at approximately midnight on July 22, but one family member didn’t make it. A Chihuahua ran back inside through a dog door as Johnson County Fire District No. 1 fire crews arrived. The dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian clinic, but did not survive.
The mobile home sustained major damage that will likely displace the resident.
According to Battalion Chief Jerry Holly, fire crews arrived on the scene at approximately 12:10. Olathe and Johnson County Fire District No. 2 assisted at the scene.
“We had (the fire) under control in about the first 30 minutes,” Holly said.
The fire was mostly contained in the living room, but Holly said there was a lot of heat damage throughout the house.
Fire officials and an insurance company will jointly investigate the cause of the blaze. Foul play is not suspected.
