Another warehouse is set to land in Edgerton. Northpointe Development, the developer of the logistics park adjacent to the BNSF intermodal, announced that Smart Warehousing will lease a 575,000-square-foot distribution center to be built in Edgerton.
Smart Warehousing is a third-party logistics company that offers flexible warehousing capabilities to partner companies.
“We are thrilled to be one of the first tenants to establish a distribution center at Logistics Park Kansas City adjacent to the BNSF LPKC Intermodal facility,” CEO of Smart Warehousing, Carl Wasinger, said. “This move will significantly improve our operating efficiencies by being in a new, state-of-the-art facility and by being very close to one of the nation’s premier intermodal sites, where a portion of our customers’ products are delivered.”
Edgerton Mayor Don Roberts said city officials are pleased that Smart Warehousing selected Edgerton.
“Third party logistics providers are a critical link in the supply chain,” Roberts said. “Having a company like Smart Warehousing that can offer integrated logistics, warehousing and technology solutions to a variety of companies at LPKC makes the business park an even more attractive location for additional warehouses and distribution facilities.”
The construction of the Smart Warehousing building is the fourth major distribution facility announced for LPKC and will join the new DeLong Grain facility and a new 500,000-square-foot speculative warehouse building being constructed at LPKC. The Smart Warehousing facility will bring the total square footage under development at LPKC to more than 1,500,000 square feet. The facility will be located near the entrance of the BNSF Intermodal, which offers access to BNSF’s suite of intermodal service products and direct-rail service from designated locations in the business park.
