Mustangs lose twice

The Wheatridge Middle School eighth-grade JV and varsity basketball squads dropped a pair of hard-fought non-league decisions versus Monticello Trails, Jan. 30.
In eighth-grade varsity action, WMS lost 63-34 despite 14 points from Jacob Swords. Trevon Jackson added 12 points. Eric Daniels and Joel Rains had three and Kade Loring, two points.
Loring dished out three assists and Carson Harding collected three steals. Swords grabbed seven boards and Jackson blocked two shots.
In junior varsity action, WMS lost a 43-15 decision to Trails despite six points from Rains. Jon Clayton added five; Jordan McIntyre, three; and Spencer Scalzi, one point and four assists.
