Morrow files to run for Gardner Mayor

Gardner City Council Vice President Chris Morrow will seek to become the next Mayor.

Morrow filed his intention to seek the position on Dec. 3 at city hall, according to a press release.

To date, no other candidates have filed for the role.  Morrow was first elected to the council in 2011.

If more than three candidates file, there will be a primary election in February. The general election is set for April 2.

Also up for election this spring are seats on the USD 231 board of education as well as two seats on the Gardner City Council.

  1. Judith Rogers says:

I have closely followed Mr. Morrow’s voting record, his words, actions and inaction on important issues. I will not be able to vote for him based on the record he has made for himself. He represents more of the same ole, same ole in my opinion and cronyism government is one I cannot and will not support and enable. Chris could and should make a real difference for this community and set a higher standard, especially for the average citizen, however, sadly I cannot see where he has done so and therefore I do not feel he qualifies for the leadership role of Mayor. We will see what the gene pool ends up being – perhaps no good choices for the people and yet I continue to hope, but my expectations are low, just like millions of other citizens who are so disgruntled with the so-called public servants they have to deal with on a daily basis.

Elections are very, very important for citizens. If Gardner continues to see voter apathy and the constituents not educated or informed on important issues but vote by what their Facebook friend tells them and the election becomes a junior high popularity contest, then we all will suffer with the poor results – elections do have consequences and boy have the people suffered the consequences for years now since they are not doing their jobs. That is my opinion.
