Merrial June “Pete” Wilson, 89, of Spring Hill, Kan., passed away July 19, 2012, at Golden Living Care Center in Spring Hill. 

Pete was born Oct. 22, 1922 in Ocheltree, Kan. to Charles Roy and Ruth Pearl (Post) Brown.  She was a life-long resident of Spring Hill, Kan.  Pete graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1940.  She married William Robert “Bill” Wilson on July 17, 1942 in Olathe, Kan. 

Pete spent most of her life as a mother and homemaker, but during WWII she was a telephone operator. She loved her flowers and spent much of her time reading and enjoying magazines.

Pete also spent years as a caretaker at her home for many beloved relatives. She was an excellent cook and everyone looked forward to her holiday dinners.

Pete was very involved in her community.  She was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and was a former Eastern Star member. 

Pete was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 2011; siblings, Mabel Wren, Royden Brown, and Uladell Hamner; son-in-law, Raymond Eilenstine and her special dog Tippy. 

She is survived by her daughter, Alice Kathleen Eilenstine, Grimes, Iowa; granddaughters, Dawn Ekdom and Mindy Sherwood; five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special caregivers Marla and Larry England and Mike and Carol Strausbaugh.  

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., July 26, 2012, at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244.  Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., July 25, 2012, at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Golden Living Care Center or the Spring Hill American Legion Auxiliary.
